MODAR Debuts With Stirring Single “Year 64” Alongside Lowfeye & Emtee

MODAR launches with its stirring debut single, Year 64, alongside South African hip-hop icon Emtee and rising star Lowfeye, with production by Moody Punk, Petty Jay, Xivo Manzini, and Nivo. Inspired by the 1964 Rivonia Trial, the track draws a powerful connection between historical resistance and the modern-day struggles faced by the artists.

Lowfeye, following a standout solo run and a successful year with cultural collective The Qwellers, leads the track with a gripping hook and a verse that balances vulnerability with vision. His performance grounds the song emotionally and affirms his place as a leading creative force in the new wave of South African hip-hop.

Emtee, coming off his Metro FM Award win for Best Produced Album (DIY 3), adds a raw, resolute performance — reinforcing his position as one of the most enduring voices in African hip-hop. “Year 64” also marks the official debut of MODAR, acronym for Making Our Dreams A Reality, a creative collaboration platform founded by Nivo — whose A&R and music marketing work has helped shape some of the continent’s most impactful records.

With “Year 64,” MODAR sets the tone for its new era — music that is collaborative, intentional, and rooted in culture and story.

Year 64 is available now on all digital platforms.
